Since 1996 PageMaster has been providing innovative and efficient publishing services for artists, authors, publishers, associations and businesses from Edmonton’s downtown. Creation
Writing & Editing
You are welcome to draw on PageMaster for professional journalism, proofreading/editing, copy writing and photography for your book project. If your project has stalled before it gets started you may want to consider assistance in these critical areas.
Design and Layout
Perhaps your gift is writing, but you could use some help laying out those well crafted words, creating a structure for your book, or designing a cover that compels readers to pick it up from the shelf. We offer design and layout services to create pictures to match the worth of your words.
Production
PageMaster utilizes digital printing technology which is extremely cost effective as you order only as many books as you need when you need them. Reorders are generally filled within a week minimizing warehousing, cash and obsolescence factors. Complimentary electronic storage of your materials means your book can be “in print” forever.

My opinion: After reading all this, this is a small publishing company that businesses and schools can go to. There could be authors who go there.

Founded in 1977, NeWest Press is one of Canada's first independent literary publishing houses. NeWest publishes literary fiction, literary nonfiction, poetry, and drama, as well as a line of mystery novels, with a particular interest in books by Western Canadian authors. Its Nunatak imprint is the longest-running first-fiction series in Canada.

SUBMISSIONS
NeWest Press will be closed to new manuscript submissions as of January 1st, 2021, as we are focusing on reading the manuscripts we received over the pandemic. We hope to re-open to new submissions in the summer, once we have worked through our backlog. Keep an eye on our social media to find out when we will be accepting new works for examination.
How To Submit A Manuscript To NeWest Press
NeWest publishes outstanding literary works by established and emerging Canadian authors. On average, we publish from 10 to 12 books a year. Our list includes fiction (including mysteries), poetry, drama, and non-fiction works with literary merit; we are especially interested in publishing books by Western Canadian authors or which explore Western Canadian themes. We also welcome submissions from people of colour and Indigenous authors, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and writers with both visible and invisible disabilities.
We are happy to consider unsolicited manuscripts; however, we do not publish young adult or children’s books. We also do not publish science fiction or high fantasy novels, inspirational memoirs, or self-help guides. Please browse our titles to see if your work fits within our mandate. Regretfully, we are also not accepting new mystery/thriller, short story, or poetry manuscripts at this time.
Please note that our busy staff does not have the time to follow up on incomplete submissions or discuss book concepts over the telephone.
In order to ensure the proper consideration of your manuscript, your application package must contain the following items:
• a cover letter that includes a synopsis of the work and complete contact information for you, including your home address, email address, and phone number, as well as social media links and any marketing connections you have
• a CV outlining your previous writing experience and/or previous publications
• a single digital file of your COMPLETE manuscript sent to submissions@newestpress.com, typed in a standard 12-point font, double-spaced, and sized to be printed single-sided on 8.5 x 11" white paper. Please include a header on each page specifying your name, the title of the manuscript, and the page number. Please note that our reading committee will only consider complete manuscripts—not partial manuscripts, sample chapters, works in progress, outlines, pitches, or query letters.
Only in rare cases will we read a physical copy of a manuscript as opposed to a digital file. If you do submit your manuscript in this fashion and wish it to be returned, you must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your submission. Manuscripts that are unaccompanied by a SASE will be destroyed. NeWest Press will not be held liable for the loss of physical manuscripts.
If our editorial screeners decide that a manuscript fits within our mandate, they will then circulate it for peer review; this process can take up to eleven months to complete. In order to be accepted for publication, a manuscript must receive a positive response from at least three readers. We ask for your patience during this process, as we strive to give each manuscript the attention it deserves.
